The Spa-Themed Bridal Shower

A day at the spa can result in an unforgettable bridal shower.

One great thing about events like bridal showers is that they're just so endlessly variable. If you put a little thought into it, you can inject something exciting or unexpected into everything from food to gifts, party games to venue.

You can be sure that the attendees will welcome a little change, because despite all the possibilities, wedding showers tend to default to a certain level of uniformity. So the next time you have an opportunity to arrange a shower, shake things up a little!

Soothing Relaxation

For example: rather than hold your shower at someone's home, why not choose a less-typical setting? It doesn't have to be weird; just stretch your definition of "bridal shower" a bit, and think deeply about what the bride-to-be might really, really need right about now.

That may vary according to the circumstances, but typically, a bride is pretty busy as her special day approaches. Since she can always use a little relaxation, why not arrange to meet at a local day spa?

Mani, Pedi, and More

The great thing here is that a spa not only makes a good shower venue, but can also serve as one of the bride's gifts. If you and your fellow attendees chip in, it doesn't have to cost too much for each of you, either -- though of course, that depends on the package you choose for her.

Imagine heading out for a place where you can get a gentle massage, a thorough manicure or pedicure, a cleansing facial, a fun makeover... and enjoy a relaxed few hours in the presence of your best buddies. And if you're lucky, you might even be able to experience a soothing herbal or mud bath.

Each individual attendee can choose her own spa package, based on her own needs and budget. Even if someone chooses not to have anything done, at the very least she can give the gift of her presence.

Final Notes

Unless you can rent the entire spa for your session, this concept is best suited for a relatively small, intimate group of women (coed events would work better elsewhere). If you can afford to rent the spa... well, wouldn't that be the shower to beat all showers?

And do be sure to book it well in advance. While most facilities will be happy to work with a shower group (as they know their charms are likely to result in repeat sales later on), the best spas are quite popular, and may be especially crowded during certain times of the year.

So if you've got some bridal shower planning on your schedule, and a spa day sounds like just the thing, then start laying your plans ASAP!
